Experienced DIRFloortime Practitioner, Leanne Howlett, will work one-on-one with your family and your child to shape a program that is right for you. The Developmental, Individual Difference, Relationship-based (DIR) Model is a framework emphasizing the critical role of parents and other family members because of the importance of their emotional relationships with the child. DIR stresses the importance of following your child's lead and yet challenging your child at the same time.
The DIRFloortime model is based on the idea that emotion is critical to the growth of the mind. Following your child's lead by understanding his interests tells you the best way to challenge him/her to move up the developmental ladder. The objectives of the DIR Model are to build healthy foundations for social, emotional and intellectual capacities. DIRFloortime is a specific technique that follows your child's natural emotional interests (lead) and at the same time challenges your child towards greater and greater mastery of social, emotional and intellectual capacities.
DIRFloortime Therapy is priced at $100.00 per hour.
ABA is a scientifically validated approach to teaching that uses a system of rewards and consequences to teach new skills and replace undesirable behaviours with desirable behaviours. Marcie is also able to provide support from challenging behaviours, toilet training, haircuts, trips to the dentist, and other areas or events that prove difficult or upsetting for your child. The goal of treatment is to ensure that skills transfer into everyday life - your home, school and community.

I Can Pretend! Drama Program
First piloted at Manitoba Theatre for Young People nearly a decade ago, I Can Pretend! teaches children with autism how to play with peers and form relationships, something that children with autism spectrum disorder typically struggle with. Created by a seasoned drama educator and parent of a child with autism, this research-based program uses best practice teaching for children with autism including picture schedules, familiar routines, repetition and reward. Through drama, younger children learn imaginative play skills and how to work in a group while older children hone social skills and performance skills. It is a program based on research supporting how children with autism learn. Children currently enrolled in an intensive intervention program such as ABA, RDI or DIRFloortime will benefit most from this program.
I Can Pretend! classes take place at the centre on Sunday afternoon and are priced at $60 a month. Space is limited and your child's class time is based on age and skill level. School packages are also available on request.
